With many pets experiencing weight gain, which could lead to pet obesity, we spoke to pet parents across the UK to understand just how health-conscious we really are when it comes to our beloved pets.
As part of our investigations, we surveyed pet parents to uncover the furry facts and understand our everyday habits when it comes to keeping our pets’ health in check.
Out of those surveyed, 25% of pet owners admitted to putting their pets on ‘diets’, due to concerns over obesity. This was achieved by eliminating table scraps from their pets’ diets and keeping healthy treats in the cupboard as opposed to fatty snacks.
However, this doesn’t mean that we don’t treat our paw-fect pals. Dog owners are more likely to treat their pooch, with 36% admitting to treating their dogs three or more times a day, compared to 19% of cat owners.
We also found that most pet owners keep their cupboards fully stocked with treats, with 78% of you confessing to always having treats to hand. Good behaviour, training purposes and preventing boredom were revealed as the top reasons for treating our four-legged friends.
We were glad to see that 65% of pet owners are putting their pets first when it comes to their health by taking heed of obesity warnings and actively seeking out healthy treats for their pets, including buying treats which contain super foods and extra vitamins.
Responsible pet parenting is at the core of everything that we do, which is why we created our fantastic Natural Nosh Plus treats for dogs, which are loaded with superfoods such as spinach, kale, sweet potato, pumpkin and carrot.
For cats we created Natural Nosh which curious felines just can’t keep their paws off! These treats are made from 100% real meat, are low in fat and are a rich source of natural protein.
Remember, whilst we all love to spoil our pets, treats should be used as part of a healthy and balanced diet. So, if you have any questions or tips for fellow pet parents on keeping pets healthy, find us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagramand join the conversation!
